Großmarkt Wien
Deep in Vienna's 23rd district, Inzersdorf, sits Austria's largest food and flower wholesale market. Since opening its doors in 1972, Großmarkt Wien has grown to span 30 hectares, becoming the country's main area for fresh food distribution.
While most of Vienna sleeps, the market springs to life at 2 AM as traders deal in everything from fresh produce and meat to fish and eggs. Moving some 400,000 tonnes of goods each year, it's truly the heart of Austria's food trade. The market's crown jewel is its massive flower hall - stretching across 10,000 square meters and handling half of all flower sales in Austria.
